Disney Theme Park Snap would be the ultimate Disney game
Disney Parks for many fans are a key part of the Disney experience. As often as they possibly can they come to Disneyland, Disneyworld or even other parks outside the U.S. such as Tokyo Disney Sea or Disneyland Paris. It’s definitely expensive, but for most fans worth it and an essential experience.
Of course key to any vacation is photos to remember the experience by, but Disney parks bring it to a whole other level with their Photopass experiences both on their rides and with their photographers who can add magic to any photo. Videogames about visiting theme parks aren’t common but there are a handful of them. Videogames that combine visiting theme parks with a photography element that can be a fun game don’t exist but I really think the opportunity is there and ripe for the picking.
So what I’m proposing is basically a Disney take on Pokemon Snap. If you aren’t familiar with the Pokemon Snap games, they are games where you take photos of various Pokemon, sometimes in specific places and with particular poses, but it’s not a simple matter of whipping out your in-game camera and the Pokemon in question posing for you. You have to do certain tasks and or tricks to get some of the harder, rarer photos and that’s where the fun comes in, this could be incorporated into a game where you visit the various Disney theme parks and take photos of the numerous characters wandering the parks.
Some characters would just be walking around and gladly take photos with you, others might be hard to find or require certain conditions to be met before you can take a photo. Maybe even getting multiple pictures of characters but in different poses or in certain groupings together can be part of the challenge. It’s an idea with a lot of fun and varied possibilities in my humble opinion.
Traveling to every Disney park in the world (and maybe even special resorts such as the Aulani Disney Resort in Hawaii) would make this a pretty expansive game with plenty to explore and do. Autograph books are also a pretty big part for many of the Disney Parks experience, that could also be an element of the game where getting characters to sign your book is a bonus objective.
Taking photos is an element of plenty of videogames, but not the core conceit, a game that makes it so and takes place in the various Disney parks would be an absolute winner for the many Disney fans out there (and for synergy purposes would probably make people want to visit the parks as well if that needs to be a reason).
That’s all for today, I will probably have another post next weekend so see ya real soon!
