In the early 90s, the Disney Afternoon was THE THING to watch for kids (and maybe even slightly older animation fans). Pretty much all the shows during the programming block’s prime were beloved and still are to this day (and rightfully so) while everyone had their favorites, Talespin never seemed to cross anyone’s mind as the top cartoon. It’s not that it was bad, mind you, it has a really cool premise and fun characters with some really well-told adventures but it wasn’t really doing too much that Ducktales and Rescue Rangers weren’t doing better and shows like Darkwing Duck

I bet a lot of people have super fond memories of Super Star Wars and its OG trilogy sequels on the Super Nintendo growing up. Were you excited to play it again on the PlayStation 4 when they brought it back? I was too. What about Bounty Hunter? Star Wars Episode One Racer? The Jedi Knight games?

Maybe these were fondly remembered classics for their time, but they don’t hold up very well today. It might even be argued that they were never actually that great we just didn’t know any better because there wasn’t much to compare them to…

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games are simply a couple of the best games based in the Star Wars universe ever made. There’s a good reason why people keep clamoring for a new entry in the series beyond the reportedly excellent (I haven’t gotten into it myself) MMO The Old Republic which has just been nicely chugging along since 2011.

While we haven’t gotten a new entry in the series (though some kind of new entry is reportedly in the works along with rumors of modern ports for the original games), the games are more accessible than…

A lot of interesting stuff is happening regarding Lucasfilm IP and video games recently. A new Indiana Jones game is happening, Star Wars is no longer exclusively the domain of Electronic Arts, and the newly rebranded Lucasfilm Games have claimed that’s just the beginning.

The most intriguing/exciting rumor coming out of this is that finally, with the last game being 16 years old, we are reportedly getting a new entry in the Knights of the Old Republic series, the first game arguably really put developer Bioware on the map as it was their first game with a deep morality system…

As a game franchise, Star Wars has had a kind of rough ride the last several years. If you aren’t aware of the history, long story short, when Disney bought LucasFilm and all the properties that came with it, they essentially shuttered LucasArts, the game company that made or published pretty much all the Star Wars games up to that point. Some were great, some were middling, some were downright awful, but it was truly the end of an era and given the moneymaking machine Star Wars is, an era most probably thought would never actually come to an end.

Disney and Christmas are a pretty natural combination. Heck one of my favorite holiday experiences ever was going to Disney World in 2018 right after Thanksgiving and holiday celebrations at the park were in full swing. Video games and Christmas are an equally natural combination, simply because often people who like video games either get them as gifts around this time or buy them for themselves on sale, etc. and even with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season there usually seems to be some downtime to get some game time in.

Despite this, there aren’t a ton of…

Marvel’s Avengers has been out since September without much in the way of new content. Now, if it had just been a 15 hour or so single-player game that obviously wouldn’t be an issue. However, Marvel’s Avengers is supposed to be a game that theoretically you play for months, possibly even years and that’s hard to justify without a steady flow of new content.

This wasn’t initially the plan, of course. There was set to be a pretty significant content drop seemingly once a month with a new hero and new storyline content to go with it. First up was…

It’s official, the next-gen is truly here. Though hard to find the next set of consoles from Sony and Microsoft are out there somewhere (I honestly still can’t believe I managed to snag a PS5 myself frankly) and though Nintendo hasn’t been following the traditional console model for a while, the Switch is pretty much their current generation and has been out for a couple of years already.

So with what is generally considered the 8th generation of consoles winding down (though it still seems like they’ll be getting noteworthy releases for the next year or so), it seems like…

Kingdom Hearts is a super popular series, but also has up until recently been an incredibly hard one to keep up with, and not just because the series has had so many twists and turns it makes Hideo Kojima games seem easy to follow. It’s been going for eighteen(!) years, across various platforms with games jumping back and forth all over the timeline. And they matter, they all matter. …

The holidays and video games. While most holidays in the winter season have been around far longer than this relatively young medium, the two have been intrinsically linked together for decades. Certainly, a lot of that has to do with the tradition of often receiving games and consoles on a given holiday, but also a lot of people have favorite games they return to during this time year after year. Some have a wintery element to them, some actually have some sort of holiday element intrinsic to the game (i.e. …
